The Impact of Film on My Life: A Narrow Look into It
I'm not that cinephile to begin with. But, I really do love watchings films. It just brings out feelings that has been kept in a box inside of me in an eloquent way. And I think I wouldn't have been me now without these said films in my life.
Film plays a significant parts of our lives. For me, it has broden my understanding in certain things. Such as cultural diversity, society, anthropology and many more. It helped me understand that people perceive things in ways that we can't phantom. It really widen my scope on understanding human behavior.
I see film as a mirror somehow. Sometimes I just relate to the characters so much, if not, the plot. It makes me think that I am literally that character. For instance, "Lady Bird", "The Virgin Suicides" and "The Perks of Being a Wallflower". It's like a mirror and when I look at the main character(s), I see myself. I see flaws that makes me leap or embrace change in me. Also, you can really see a brief overview of a person in regards with their favorite films. They mirror what their frequent watches are, and it somehow speaks for themselves.
Film is a form of escapism to me as well. In retrospect, films are a way for me to have entertainment, but, it entails much more. It offered me an escape to be those characters that I really dreamed to be. The monotomy of our third world country made me to visualize myself in those ideal, fictional films, such as those American films. Sometimes I think that this is a bad impact as I'm evading the realities of life and it makes me think of things that goes beyond the confinements of reality.
Well, these are some impacts of film in my life. I really would love to talk comprehensively about this, but I think that's something to entail for another time.
Or for another blog perhaps? Let's see what the future holds.
What about you? What are some impacts of film in your life? I'd love to hear...
